“The intention to provide an accommodation to the economically weaker section (EWS) of people, in the same habitat as the middle and upper income groups, is a positive one. Generally, amalgamation of EWS housing with luxury projects does not go down well with the buyers, although in several states this has to mandatorily provided in group housing projects. Further, there will be concerns with respect to sharing the common area maintenance costs. However, the architectural prowess coupled with proper landscaping can be adopted to design projects that can balance the cultural differences. But, the threshold on the plot size of 2,000 sq. mt. is very low to execute projects with this condition.”
