In its effort to modernise the Railway Stations across India and provide optimum services to travelers, Indian Railways Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) had appointment Knight Frank India to operate and maintain the KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. As a part of its efforts, Knight Frank India facilitated the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, a part of the country's largest skill development programme - Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) - under the Skill India mission for 122 Indian Railway employees. These employees have been trained and assessed from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) through mandated partners. The successful candidates were feliciated and handed over their certificates in a special ceremony today.
Under the training programme, employees deployed at KSR Bengaluru Railway station went through an extensive learning programme consisting of training and assessment directly conducted by NSDC via mandated partners.
The successful candidates, apart from their certificates, also received Rs 500/- payout through direct bank transfer (DBT) to trainee's Aadhar-linked bank account and free accident insurance for three years under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ashok Kumar- DRM, Railways, Mr. Shravan Balu- SSE, IRSDC, Bengaluru along with Ram Devagiri, Executive Director & Head of Facilities Management Services, Knight Frank India, Mr. Sathish Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer (COO)- India, Facilities & Asset Management Services, Knight Frank India were present in the event to certify the employees trained under PMKVY facilitated by Knight Frank India.
Ram Devagiri, Executive Director & Head of Facilities Management Services, Knight Frank India said, “Everything today is a matter of experience, including railway travel. It is our endeavour to enhance this experience when travelers are at the railway stations. However, service comes from its employees, so training the employees at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station is the key to providing the experience. The new imparted skill set will help these employees improve their service delivery, productivity and excel in their respective careers. Alongside this, we are pleased that we are able to add to the mission of the government."
PMKVY is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by the NSDC. The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under RPL.
According to the latest data, a total of 2.03 million candidates have been trained and awarded certificates under PMKVY. A total of 2.78 million candidates had enrolled for the programme, while 2.70 million were trained formally and 2.15 million were assessed for their skill level at the end of the training programme.
